Cocchi
Founded in Asti in the late 20th century, Cocchi is an Italian brand renowned for producing vermouths, aperitifs and digestifs. It was launched in 1891 by pastry chef, Giulio Cocchi, with the company initially making aromatic wines. After 121 years of operating, the brand was added to the Italian National Register of Historic Companies.
Cocchi is now owned by the Bava family, a family of wine producers who have carried on the tradition of using quality ingredients and methods honed over 100 years.
Arguably their most famous product is the Aperitivo Americano, which has been made uninterrupted since the 1890s and is considered an alternative to Kina Lillet. It’s a quinine-flavoured wine, with a Moscato base, that’s become increasingly popular in cocktails. Another historic expression is the Cocchi Barolo Chinato, a red vermouth that was thought to have medicinal qualities. It’s rich, with big warming notes of spice and chocolate.
Other signature bottlings include the Vermouth di Torino and Cocchi Rosa.
