Yushan

Yushan is a brand of whisky from the Nantou Distillery in Taiwan. The distillery is based in Nantou County, and was launched in 2008, before finally releasing its first whisky in 2013. The Yushan brand is named after the country’s highest peak, which translates as Jade Mountain.

Though classed as a Taiwanese whisky, Yushan is influenced by scotch-making techniques. Barley is imported from Scotland and distillation takes place in Forsyth stills. The maturation process typically uses ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, although the unique climate accelerates ageing, meaning it takes less time to create a flavourful spirit.

The Yushan Signature range includes the Bourbon Cask and the Sherry Cask. Both of these single malts offer buttery and citrusy notes, although the latter has an added element of spice. There is also a Blended Malt available.
