The Balvenie 12-Year-Old DoubleWood is an iconic Speyside single malt, known for its unique maturation process that adds complexity and depth to the whisky’s character. First released in 1993, this expression has become one of the most popular in Balvenie’s range, showcasing the distillery’s mastery of traditional craftsmanship and wood management. Matured for 12 years in two distinct types of wood, the whisky begins its life in ex-bourbon casks, where it develops soft, sweet vanilla notes. It is then transferred to Oloroso sherry casks for its finishing period, adding rich layers of dried fruit and spice. This dual maturation process is what gives DoubleWood its distinctive flavour profile, balancing sweetness with a complex, full-bodied richness.

Located in Dufftown, Speyside, Balvenie Distillery is renowned for being one of the few distilleries in Scotland that grows its own barley, malts in-house, and employs traditional coppersmiths and coopers, ensuring exceptional quality at every stage of production.
